Summer is technically wrapping up this weekend, however here in California we are in the middle of a heat wave. Before Summer officially comes to an end though, I wanted to share a simple Summer table setting I did last week.
In the spring I bought two table runners, they were a bit of a splurge but I loved the quality and thought they were neutral and classic so I’d be able to use them year round. You can go HERE to see how I used the runners on my spring table.
I justified spending a little more on the runners by challenging myself to use them every season this years. So here is what I came up with for Summer. I kept things really simple, and hope this inspires you to do the same. I find sometimes we don’t entertain because its so much work! I’ve challenged myself to keep it simple and focus on what is really important-visiting with friends and family. And I found that even if things are simple they can still be beautiful and inviting.
I folded the striped runner in half and layered it on top of the white one. We have the prettiest, blooming, Crepe Myrtle trees sprinkled through out our town and I snipped a few branches to create a simple center piece.
Here’s a tip-you can never go wrong with white dishes. I switched a few years ago and now I only buy white serving pieces. They can be added into any table setting and look beautiful. It takes the guess work out of setting the table, which saves you time and energy-a win, win!

Well there you have it, a simple summer table. The only thing I had to do to prepare was buy these napkins that happened to match the blossoms perfectly and I had a whole new look for my table.
Hope this inspires you that keeping it simple when entertaining can still be beautiful!
