ROOMS WE LOVE-BLOGGER HOME TOURS
My dear friend Tammy of Pink Peppermint Designs, and host of the Rooms We Love tour rounded up a talented group of bloggers for this tour. She asked us to pick one room in our home and share why we love it! There’s 25 of us sharing at the bottom of the post you’ll find all the participants. These ladies have such inspiring spaces-it’s an honor to be included. If you’re joining me from Val of Valerie Wheeler Designs, welcome-isn’t Val’s home so inviting!
I had to think long and hard about which room is my favorite in our home. I decided it’s THE HUB that I’d share. The kitchen and breakfast area…The space I spend the majority of my time in when I’m home. It’s interesting because if you asked me which room I’d most like to remodel, I’d have the same answer…THE HUB. Let me explain…
Our home is just over 20 years old, and this is the original kitchen! Wear and tear is starting to catch up to it, and it’s time to replace it. We are saving up so we can tackle a remodel in the next few years. But because it was designed originally with all white cabinets, all white counter-tops, and all white appliances it still feels current and fresh. In fact when we do remodel my plan is to do white cabinets again, but I’ll do solid surface counter-tops- this momma is tired of cleaning grount!
Back to why I love it. The space opens up to our family room so while I’m cooking and cleaning the kitchen I don’t miss out on any action. I also L-O-V-E the french doors that open wide, they let the sun shine inside! We live in Southern California and love our sunshine!
Another thing I love are these shelves at the end of the island. I like to change them up seasonally.
I also love the big window above the kitchen sink. It seems like I’m constantly washing and re-washing dishes and it’s a great window to look out of and daydream while I’m washing.
I added THESE HOOKS last year and I really like how they complete the wall next to the refrigerator. This is another spot I like to switch up seasonally. Kitchen towels are relatively inexpensive and an easy way to freshen up your kitchen. Our home is probably like a lot of yours, it’s not brand new, it needs some updating, but I’ve learned to love it in all of it’s stages and phases. So although our kitchen isn’t necessarily my dream kitchen it’s a room I love and am thankful for. I’ve added in some key accessories to bring in the feel I want. I love the marble baking slab I placed behind the range, one day I’ll have marble counter tops but until that day comes this little marble rectangle will have to do.
