PATIO FURNITURE MAKEOVER
Over the last few weeks I spent some time updating our tired, old patio furniture. I’m sharing the process today because with two simple steps our furniture looks brand new and brought a major upgrade to our backyard.
BEFORE AND AND AFTER
I’m leading with the before picture because I love it so much!
Below is the before, and the furniture looked okay from a distance, but if you got up close you could see how faded it was. The furniture cushions were the originals that came with the set, and I never loved how the green cushions just seemed to disappear with all the greenery in the yard.
The coffee table was probably the worst in terms of fading, here’s a picture I took the day the makeover began.
Two Steps to Update Your Patio Furniture
I used my PAINT SPRAYER and gave each piece a fresh coat of paint. I power washed all the furniture and wiped it down. Next I gave everything a coat of primer and then a finish coat of paint. I choose Valspars Muted Ebony in a satin exterior finish.
With all the slats in the furniture I can’t imagine doing this project without a paint sprayer. Linked below is the sprayer and paint tent I used. Affiliate links used in this post.
STEP TWO-REPLACE FURNITURE CUSHIONS
As I mentioned earlier, I never loved the dark green cushions the patio set came with. I searched online for replacement cushions and found hayneedle had the best selection, and a great price. I settled on THESE NATURAL COLORED CUSHIONS and I am thrilled with what a difference they made in updating the furniture. Hayneedle has endless colors and sizes to choose from. Make sure you measure your furniture to determine the right size replacement cushion.
Those two simple steps made such a difference. I love the new look and our existing OUTDOOR RUG, also from hayneedle, blends perfectly with the gray furniture and natural colored cushions.
Once I made over the patio furniture, I got on a roll and refreshed our dining area and added a few more touches to the backyard. I’m planning a full backyard tour next week, can’t wait to share all the details.
