I’m excited to share my first big design project of the new year, it’s our master bedroom. Like every good house project this has created a bit of a snowball effect. I’ll get to that in a minute but first let’s jump right to the good stuff.
MASTER BEDROOM DESIGN PLAN
I haven’t finalized all the details but thought it’d be fun to take you along on the journey as this room comes together. The items I do have are the RUG and the BED. We actually purchase the bed last Spring… I KNOW!!! What are we waiting for?
What prompted the purchase was the need for a new mattress. We’ve always had a Queen sized mattress and decided now was a good time to upgrade to a King. So I found a King sized bed but still have yet to order a mattress! My goal is to make a final decision this week.
The Rug was love at first site. I stumbled across it one day on Amazon, loved the colors and you can’t beat the price.
I am still working on selecting bedding which will be a key element, once I have my final selections I’ll do a post with all the specifics.
I’m having the hardest time finding the perfect nightstands. Maybe it’s that there are just too many good choices. I’ll link below the top contenders and would love your imput.
Another key element will be the paint color. I want a pale gray with blue undertones. I’ve narrowed it down to three and will try samples of each color. Honestly these color samples don’t look anything like the inspiration rooms I’ve found as examples on Pinterest. This is one reason choosing paint is so difficult.
BENJAMIN MOORE GRAY OWL AT 50%
I’ve found several examples of rooms that I love in this color. Online it’s described as gray with an undertone of blue. However the sample card reads more green to me so I’ll have to try a sample to see how it looks in our room.
BENJAMIN MOOR GRAY CLOUD
The color on the walls in this bedroom are so soothing, fresh, and inviting. Another one I’m definitely going to sample.
Here is a what our bedroom looks like right now.

I really like our bedroom as it is now, aside from the paint color. The good news is we have space to use our current bedroom furniture in another room.
My plan is to finally clear out the spare bedroom we have downstairs and set up the guest room properly. It’s a good sized room and I can’t wait to start using it for guests!
This weekend I painted the guest room and we will move our bedroom furniture downstairs this week. That way we can sleep in there and won’t have to smell paint fumes while I’m working on getting the master bedroom painted.
Stay tuned friends for updates on both of these bedrooms!
