Our kitchen had a birthday recently, and while she looks really good for her age, she’s definitely mature and getting up in her years. She’s 20 years old! Today I’ll take you on a kitchen tour and talk about ways to love your kitchen right now, whatever age and stage it’s in.
We have a remodel planned but are determined to pay cash for it, so we will have to save up a little longer. In the mean time, I’m so thankful that we have white cabinets and white counter tops. Although the thing I most look forward to is replacing the countertops-I dream of having a solid surface countertop once again.
There are so many gorgeous brand new kitchens on Pinterest, and I love the inspiration! However, you may be in my same boat and are living with something less than your dream kitchen, here are a few ideas on how to style your kitchen and create some areas that you love.
One of my favorite spots in the kitchen is my coffee station. I have my Keurig setup to the left of the tray , which is what I use daily, but I love how beautiful the Chemex drip coffee pot is so it stays out and looks pretty as it waits to get used on special occasions.

I also set up a baking station with some pretty accents that help add interest to the other corner of the kitchen. When you’re working with a kitchen you don’t love it goes a long way when you add in accent pieces that are the style that you do love, and that are functional for your kitchen. You’ve probably noticed I love using trays to create these special areas. It’s a great way to gather your pretty things in an interesting way.

Here’s my sweet aging range, I invision a gorgeous 6 burner Viking range in the future, but until then I added some pretty elements around it and am thankful I have a working stove top. I think that’s the key when you’re working with a kitchen that’s older, have gratitude that you have a space to prepare meals for your family and create a few key areas within the kitchen that you do love and your eye will be drawn to those areas.
