ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 2
The official name of this entryway project should be LITTLE BY LITTLE. We have a busy and full schedule over the next few weeks, several weekends I’ll be away or my husband will be. Which means sneaking in an hour here or there to work on the space.
This is why I love the ONE ROOM CHALLENGE, see all of this round of projects HERE. If it weren’t for the challenge I would for sure not be making time for our entryway/stairway. That being said, I can’t wait to show you what I got done during the last week.
I know it doesn’t look like much, but I painted the inside of our front door. I absolutely LOVE IT! This light gray/blue is such an improvement over the weathered looking stain that had been on the door. It took two coats of primer and then two coats of the final color. It’s the same color I talked about in THIS POST about our exterior paint colors, Boothbay Gray by Benjamin Moore.
With the new paint the entry area seems instantly brighter and fresher. This next week I hope to build the round entry table. I picked up the wood to build the base and ordered THIS TABLE TOP that should be arriving soon.
CONQUERING MY FEAR
Friends, I used our electric power saw. My husband typically does all the cutting for our woodworking projects. However, as I mentioned earlier, we will be out-of-town many of the weekends during this challenge. So in order for me to complete this projects I need to work on it during the week, while my husband is at his office. This means I needed to conquer my fear of power tools and woman up. I did just that, yesterday I framed out the door opening leading into our office. Mitered cuts and all! After the first couple of cuts my fear subsided and I really enjoyed it.
The door needed to be framed out because the office originally had french doors. At the beginning of the year we built BARN DOORS, but had yet to change out the molding around the door. I’m really happy with how it turned out, now I need to finish caulking and painting.
I’m hoping when I check in with you next week, this shrine area will all be covered up. We knocked off the brick border, and now need to build a frame within the opening so we can attach the drywall. I’d also like to finalize all my selections for the space and get those ordered. Once that’s done I can start tackling the trim-work going up the stairs.
Thank you for following along on this 6 week room makeover, to see all the other amazing spaces head on over to the ONE ROOM CHALLENGE site.
