I’m starting a new series-design tips. Often an idea will pop into my head that is a trick of the trade in the decorating world, and when a good one comes, I’ll share it with you.
Spring and Summer is a time when flowers are in abundance, and whether it’s from the yard, wildflowers, or the grocery store during this time a year I always have flowers in the house.
This is an arrangement I used for the One Room Challenge Reveal. I’ve gotten so many compliments on how lovely my vase is. Well…. it’s actually a candle holder. I love using candle holders, hurricanes, and lanterns as vases for flowers. They add more interest than a typical glass vase.
Often the candle holder will work as is. However, sometimes they will come with bottomless glass insert-when that happens I just slip in a simple clear vase. Typically one from the dollar store works perfectly. I used a dollar store vase in the arrangement above, just because I wasn’t sure if it would hold water where the glass and metal come together. So when in doubt just slip in a clear vase, it visually disappears and then you won’t need worry about a leak.
Below I rounded up some of my favorite candle holders that would work beautifully with flowers. It’s also a great gift idea. You can give someone an arrangement, as a graduation gift, house warming gift, birthday, etc. and then once the flowers have died they still have the beautiful candle holder.
