This week will be a double post, I was out of town when Linda kicked off this springs ORC. I saw all the amazing rooms, and decided I needed to jump in. A few years ago I joined the ORC and re-did our master bedroom. It was such a great way to get a room done, it’s so unique and fun having a group to decorate with. It’s also very helpful to have a time line.
For the ORC I’m focusing on our family room, which flows into our casual dining space, and I have plans for that area too. This week I washed, pressed, hemmed, and hung 8 curtains. That was quite a job and all that I got done. I love how it brightened the room and framed the windows. Here’s how the room looks now with them hung
ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK ONE
I had already hung the curtain rods when I took these before pictures. I love the big windows and all the natural light in here. I’ve always wanted to frame the windows out in white curtains. That was first on the list.
I’ve ordered some pillow covers and fabric to switch up the pillows in here. It’s the project I’m most excited about.I’ve wanted to cover those wall speakers for a VERY long time. I also want to re-work the mantle. I’ve ordered a large mirror to anchor that space.
And here’s the dining area that I’ll be working on. The big goal is to lighten this space up. I bought a Pottery Barn table off Craigslist. I’ll strip and refinish it, and for the chairs I’m planning on Ikea’s white slip covered chairs.Look at that curtain rod! You can’t see me, but I’m hanging my head in shame. This rod has never been right and we’ve just ignored it. Well, no longer! It’s coming down. I plan to paint our french doors a dark gray and then decide if I’ll frame out the door with white curtains, or just leave them. I’m very excited about changing this area.
Thank you for following along with me as I transform this space. Please head over to our incredible host Linda’s blog Calling it Home and check out all the other rooms being transformed! Each year the transformations blow me away, you will be inspired.
