I shared with you yesterday my Christmas table here, and I’m back today to share with you how to make these easy and inexpensive place mats. They are made from felt and it adds a beautiful texture to the table. They are less than a dollar a piece to make, saving money is always nice, and especially at this time of year. Here’s what you’ll need.
I found my felt sheets at Hobby Lobby for .33 cents a piece. You need two a place mat. They have endless color options but I especially loved the texture of this gray.
Simply duct tape the two pieces together. Nobody will be flipping over the mat, and it held the two pieces together perfectly.
Then simply turn the mat over, and hot glue the ribbon down the center. You will hide where you joined them together and it gives another texture and detail that is really pretty. Make sure you cut the ribbon about two inches longer than the length of the mat so you can fold the ends over and glue them to the back, for a finished look.
And there you have it, an easy and inexpensive way to dress up your table. I used this ribbon and tied the napkins with it as well, to complement the placemats.
